PRESS RELEASE
The following text message which was not published, was sent to the Press by President of Singapore Swimming Club on 19 February 2011 with regards to the 19 February ST article on the GM’s departure from the Club:
“With reference to the Straits Times article on 19 February 2011, the VP of Singapore Swimming Club would like to clarify that what he had meant was that he heard a rumour circulated around the Club that a Key Admin committee member received an anonymous phone text message that the General Manager has a forged degree.
As this was merely a rumour, the Club did not act on it. The Club has a whistle blowing policy in place and no complaint was received through this channel. Furthermore, the Club also did not receive any written complaint from anyone.
The General Manager was dismissed from the Club with effect from 19 February 2011 and the Club will assist the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) in its investigations.”
